Bali - Island of the Gods

**11th December 2007**

We stayed at Emerald Villa http://baliemeraldvilla.com for our honeymoon which was located at Sanur. Total spending around SGD 700 for air tickets as well as lodging of four days three nights. Emerald villa consists of one bedroom, and two bedrooms villas. As I'm quite particular about pool, I booked it immediately when I realised it is just right in front of our room. You can literally run from your room and jump straight into it. Swimming pool is shared among all guests. Lucky for us, no one was there and we had the pool all to ourselves.

There were no breakfasts provided since this is an apartment, but you can always order from their cafe. You will not believe at how good the foods were, especially their local nasi goreng.

Sanur was quite a relaxing part of Bali island, there was nothing much to be done except for water sports or massages. You can cover the whole stretch of street of shops selling the same souvenirs, restaurants, and cafes within an hour. Balinese are friendly people who made us felt welcomed, and I was touched by their warmth. Everywhere you go, they are always smiling.

We were so bored that we decided to go for Odyssey submarine tour www.odysseybali.com at Amuk Bay, which was an hour drive away from Sanur. The cost was SGD 100 per pax for tour including lunch. That was my first time under the sea and I could feel myself trembling. A great experience though to see how the underwater looks like with fishes, and corals.

**25th October 2008**

Okay, so I went on a Co. retreat to Bali a year after my honeymoon. It was such a co-incidence that I stayed at Bali Hyatt http://www.bali.resort.hyatt.com/en/hotel/home.html in Sanur. Hyatt was just a street away from Emerald villas. Bali Hyatt is beautiful, I must say. Their room's decorations are traditional which brings out the Balinese culture. Please remember to try out their pools, apart from usual one; there is a hot (40 degrees celcius), and a cold (minus 10, I could not remember). Oh yes, their spa is super relaxing as well.

Nothing much about Sanur actually, food is cheap and you can get fresh fruit juices unlike those with cordials. Do try out any seafood restaurants, some do have traditional Balinese dance performances.
