Port Dickson - Family Oriented, Better Than I Had Expected

**18th February 2013**

Port Dickson is a four hour drive from Singapore. We loved beach resorts where we could relax and swim in the pool. Our resort, Lexis Resort www.lexispd.com was supposed to be a ten minutes drive after we exited from express-way. Thanks to Apple map, we were totally lost and took a longer time to reach. That would be the last time I'm using it, switching back to Google map. We were exhausted upon reaching, took a bath and went straight to bed.

According to trip advisor's tips, some of the popular resorts in Port Dickson are Avillion www.avillionportdickson.com, Thistle www.thistle.com/hotels/malaysia/port_dickson/thistle_port_dickson, Lexis, and Grand Lexis. The difference between Lexis and Grand Lexis www.grandlexispd.com is that Grand Lexis has an indoor private pool in each individual room. It costs about additional SGD100 per night, but we thought it is not worth the price. We don't intend to swim in the pool 24 hours anyway. Our room is around SGD200 per night.

The room was pretty big with a king size bed, and another single bed which is quite suitable for your child. There was a bathtub, shower, and toilet. Baby enjoyed soaking in the bathtub, we had an indoor pool after all. We chose water chalet which was built to stand on stilts. There was a small transparent glass on the floor for you to take a look at the seawater.

Lexis Resort do provide buggy service, and you could enjoy viewing the sea while passing by the water chalets. We went to check out at Grand Lexis (just located next to our resort), and settled our dinner at their coffee house. The resort's staffs were extremely friendly which made us felt welcomed, definitely a good stay.

Breakfast buffet spread was not bad, you could make your own sandwich. They had plastic utensils specially catered for children which surprised me. We went to tour around the resort, and I was so excited to see a swing! I loved playing with swings since young, but have no chance getting to play one in Singapore. Everywhere I go, there would always be children, and I feel bad to snatch those swings away from them. But now, I will be excused if I were to bring baby along. *winks*

For lunch, we tried out Lucky King Bun, they were famous for their huge curry chicken bun. One bun is for four person servings. We ordered a vegetable dish named "Four Heavenly Kings" which were made up of lady fingers, petai, brinjals, and long beans. Total costs was about SGD30.

A trip would be wasted without having a swim at the pool. Baby loved playing with water, I was glad the adult pool was not deep. It is about five feet, hence, this will reduced the number of drowning cases. You are still able to stand up and walk in the pool. The sad thing is, I totally cannot swim at all, not even float. Fortunately, with the help of swimming float, I am able to play with water too. Yeah!

I heard that El Cactus is a must try Mexican restaurant when one visits to Port Dickson. It is located opposite Corus Resort, and closed on every Monday. Their servings are very large, and you will certainly be bloated at the end. I wanted to try their apple crumble, but just could not eat any more.
