Cameron Highlands - A Land of Teas and Strawberries

**7th August 2013**

We left Singapore at 5:30am in the morning, and thankfully there was no jam at Tuas Checkpoint since it was eve of Hari Raya Puasa. We stopped over for breakfast at Restoran Jejantas (Overhead bridge restaurant) Air Keroh (near Malacca).

Simple breakfast of mee soto & a cup of milo is bliss!
Baby slept all the way..
We finally reached Cameron Highlands at around 1:30pm, and were all starving. Thank God we managed to find a place to eat, and gobbled up everything in seconds!

Though Heritage Hotel http://www.heritagehotelcameronhighlands.com was kind of old, I still decided to stay there given that it is very accessible. Plus a huge spacious room too, that is the most important. What greeted us was these irresistible welcome cookies for Hari Raya which I ate them all up as they were ridiculously delicious! I could feel myself putting on weight right then.

Nice view..
Our aim is to not travelling too far for dinner as we were aching from that eight hours drive earlier. Since it was quite cold during the night, we decided to go for steamboat. We stopped by Glory 78 Steamboat & Snack Corner. Their servings were too much for the four of us.

Though we were full to the brim during dinner, there is always some space reserved for desserts. Coincidentally, we happened to pass by Tang Dynasty which was located on second floor of one of the shop houses at town area.

**8th August 2013**

Our first stop had to be a tea plantation which is Cameron Highland's icon. Fortunately, one of them (Cameron Valley) was just 5km drive away from our hotel. You may walk down to tea plantation, but be careful of its steep slope. You don't want to roll down the mountain. Settle down for a pot of tea along with some cakes, if you can. We ordered mint green tea, and felt refreshed immediately.

Beautiful!

Next, we went to Cactus Point where you may find all kinds of cacti, plants, and flowers. My mum-in-law nearly wanted to bring back a pot of chilli. I was mesmerised by these flora too and could not help, but snapping away.

The chilli plant that nearly went home with us.. lol..

There were so many strawberry farms to choose from. We went to EQ Strawberry Farm since it was along the way. For EQ, only three people were allowed as a group, and had to pick at least half kg. Did I not mention you get to self pick your own strawberries? We are required to pay RM30 in advance before heading in. The worker would weigh our strawberries upon exit, and there was an extra 100gm. So we paid another RM7.

Look at the mouthwatering strawberries!
We had our lunch at Water Cress Valley, and this is a must try when you visit Cameron Highlands. You may either choose to have steamboat or their zi char. Go for the zi char whereby there are set meals. We ordered six dishes set for four paxes. All their dishes were so yummy, even their home made watercress drink. Those who dined at the restaurant could visit their watercress farm for free (normal fare at RM1). However, there was nothing much at the farm.

I suggested to check out Butterfly Garden though I was really afraid of insects especially those flying ones. There were some stick insects as well as leaf insects which amused us. When Baby saw spiders, all he could think of was "Itsy Bitsy" from nursery rhyme.

As I wanted to visit Malaysia's number one brand Boh Tea, we headed to Boh Tea Plantation. The factory was not operating due to public holiday, and we just toured around before leaving for its cafe. We should have visited on other days as it was too crowded. We left within half an hour.

Hubby wanted to take a look at Strawberry Park Resort www.strawberryparkresorts.com (our initial choice but was fully booked), and luckily we did not stay there. The location was quite inaccessible as it was totally deep inside within mountains and forests. You could not even walk out to the main road without transport.

Our dinner was at Ye Olde Smokehouse www.thesmokehouse.com.my, it is kind of fine dining plus ambiance was pretty good. Be prepared to pay for at least RM100 per person, but their foods were just average. Not worth the price you are paying actually. If I'm not wrong, a night's stay costs about RM400.

Last trip to the Bee Farm on our way down. I bought a few bottles with raw honey comb. There were bees flying around, and I had goosebumps all over!
